Pɪᴛʙᴜʟʟs, dubbed in the past as ‘America’s Dogs,’ due to their loyalty and gentleness are not thoguht of in the same way these days. Unfortunately, a lot of Pɪᴛʙᴜʟʟs these days are ᴍɪsᴜɴᴅᴇʀsᴛᴏᴏᴅ, with a lot of people linking them to ᴅᴏɢ ꜰɪɢʜᴛs and overall ᴀɢɢʀᴇssɪᴠᴇ ʙᴇʜᴀᴠɪᴏʀ. Now meet Sasha, a true hero. From Stockton in California, she sᴀᴠᴇᴅ a 7-month-old baby girls life after dragging her out of a burning house by the diaper. Heroic Sasha dragged the baby out of her bed to safety!
It was a Sunday night and Sasha was in the backyard of the family’s fourplex apartment in California. Latana Chai, who lives in the fourplex with her two daughters, along with her cousin and her aunt, who reside in two other units, Sasha woke her in the middle of the night by barking and banging on the back door, which was ᴜɴᴜsᴜᴀʟ ʙᴇʜᴀᴠɪᴏʀ for her. Latana said:” I open the door and she runs in and starts barking at me like ᴄʀᴀᴢʏ, and I was like, ‘Okay, this is weird. This is not like her.'” Latana took a peek out back to see what had gotten her normally calm dog so ʀɪʟᴇᴅ ᴜᴘ. And what she saw was ᴛᴇʀʀɪꜰʏɪɴɢ!
She said:” I looked up and there’s black smoke coming from cousin’s home, the unit next door. You can see the flames coming out” . Thankfully, her cousin wasn’t home, but Latana knew she needed to get her family out as quickly as possible. The fire was quickly spreading to Latana’s house, too, so the mom rushed back inside to the bedroom to get her daughter. But Sasha had already ʙᴇᴀᴛ her to it! She said:” I ran into the room and I see Sasha, she has my baby like by the diaper, just dragging her off the bed trying to get her to safety.”
Sasha and 7-month-old Masailah were born just days apart. And the two are just ᴄʀᴀᴢʏ about each other. Sasha loves to cover Masailah in puppy kisses. And the two often share a bed and even take baths together! So, when a roaring fire broke out, Sahsa was ready to do anything to keep her family, especially little Masailah, safe. Sasha dragged the baby by her diaper out of the bed. Latana had just enough time to grab Masailah, her phone, and Sasha and to dash out of the apartment before the ꜰʟᴀᴍᴇs ᴄᴏɴsᴜᴍᴇᴅ her home. Before firefighters could get the fire under control, the blaze ᴅᴇsᴛʀᴏʏᴇᴅ both Latana’s apartment and the neighbor’s, who also happens to be her cousin. She’s now staying with relatives and friends and family have set up a fundraising page for donations.
Unfortunately, fire crews didn’t manage to get there in time to sᴀᴠᴇ the fourplex. The family managed to successfully restore their home and now Masailah is a very happy toddler. If it wasn’t for Sasha that one night, things could’ve ended a lot ᴡᴏʀsᴇ. Latana said:” I owe Sasha everything. I hope my story helps change the ɴᴇɢᴀᴛɪᴠᴇ perception of Pɪᴛʙᴜʟʟs .” She also added that Sasha was always considered part of the family and that she is the hero.
