Man Rɪsᴋs Everything To Live In A Wᴀʀ Zone And Care For Almost 200 Aʙᴀɴᴅᴏɴᴇᴅ Cats

An ᴀᴍʙᴜʟᴀɴᴄᴇ driver in Syria, named Alaa Aljaleel became world-wide famous for his simple and kind act- he feeds the animals who were ʟᴇꜰᴛ ʙᴇʜɪɴᴅ in the Wᴀʀ zone.

Aleppo, the largest city in Syria which has been ᴅᴇᴠᴀsᴛᴀᴛᴇᴅ by ᴡᴀʀ, ᴠɪᴏʟᴇɴᴄᴇ, and ᴅᴇsᴛʀᴜᴄᴛɪᴏɴ since 2012 as ᴏᴘᴘᴏsɪɴɢ ꜰᴏʀᴄᴇs have tried to ɢᴀɪɴ ᴄᴏɴᴛʀᴏʟ of the city. Many residents fled the city to have a better life and in that rush, they had no choice but to leave their beloved pets behind. These ᴘᴏᴏʀ animals cannot afford to live in ᴅᴀɴɢᴇʀᴏᴜs neighborhoods without their owners.

Despite the fact that many of its residents have fled in hopes of a better life, Alaa says he’ll stay, no matter what, because so many ʟɪᴠᴇs depend on him. “When people left, the cats started coming to me,” Alaa said. In the beginning, he found about 20 cats ʟᴇꜰᴛ ʙᴇʜɪɴᴅ by families that fled the area. He cared for them along with the stray cats that he had ʀᴇsᴄᴜᴇᴅ.

After a year, he became the guardian of more than 170 cats and even dogs. To provide them with a home, he established a sanctuary called Il Gattaro d’Aleppo. And since then, the ᴘᴏᴏʀ animals that were ʟᴇꜰᴛ ʙᴇʜɪɴᴅ have been given full care.

With Alaa’s help, a little girl, who raised her cat, cried while entrusting her friend to Alaa. The girl’s family had to leave but couldn’t take the cat with her so she hoped Alaa could help her take care of the cat. She asked him to send pictures of the cat regularly and promised to return it later.

Alaa’s team will still stay at Kafr Nabl every day to ʀᴇsᴄᴜᴇ more cats, despite the ᴅᴀɴɢᴇʀs of ᴡᴀʀ. He is known as “the cat man of Aleppo”. However, not only did he sᴀᴠᴇ the cats, but he also sᴀᴠᴇd people from the consequences of ᴡᴀʀ. He was like a hero of the whole city. For what he did, he deserves a medal.
